Lexington and Lincoln Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to a trailer house fire on FM 3403 at about 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, November 21st. More than a dozen fire fighters were on scene to fight the blaze that was bursting out of the windows and roof when they arrived. Lexington EMS and Lee County EMS were also dispatched to stand by. We spoke with a family member who said no one was home at the time and that an electric space heater probably was the cause of the fire. A huge oak tree in the front yard, and others near the home, were burning as well. Two vehicles were also caught in the destruction. No other information is known at this time. More...

Lee County Law Enforcement investigated two separate fatal accidents Tuesday morning, including one on FM 696 W at Mundine Road and the other at Hwy. 290 near Roy Davis Road. The FM 696 incident was reportedly a single car accident with one fatality. The other was a tractortrailer vs. Chevrolet Tahoe, resulting in three fatalities. More...

A home was completely destroyed by fire on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. Giddings teacher/coach suffers serious injuries, but doing well

A three vehicle accident that happened Sunday afternoon just before 5:30 on Hwy. 290 just west of Giddings in front of Leisure Lanes Bowling Alley took the life of a 34 year old man from Austin identified as Eduardo Ulloa. A full obituary for Ulloa is found in today’s paper. More...
